Server Crash at a Film Production Company
This client came to us after his server had crashed and he was unable to restart it.  Fortunately, the disk was still intact and we were able to restart the machine without losing any data.  We pointed out how lucky he had been and that, without proper back-up facilities, he could have lost all his data and put his entire company at risk.  He then realised that he should treat his data as a valuable resource.  Soon after, we installed a tape drive for him and devised an appropriate back-up schedule.  He now takes back-ups on a regular basis and retains off-site copies so that he is protected both against machine failure and a fire or other disaster in the office.

Office Move for a London based Asset Management Company
A client for whom we had undertaken minor repairs in the past needed to take additional offices to cope with the expansion of his business.  He decided that he would take the opportunity to review his IT set up and he asked us to prepare an IT strategy that would support him in meeting his ambitious growth targets.  The result was that we planned, specified and installed a complete Windows NT-based network in the new premises, servicing client machines in both the old and the new offices.

Software Upgrade for a Direct Marketing Company
Through a personal contact, this local company approached us as he realised that he was not achieving all that he should from his IT set-up, a mixture of IBM and Apple machines.  The main problem was not so much that there was anything wrong with the equipment, more that the software was inadequate and that the staff did not know how to use the software they did have very effectively.  We installed the Microsoft Office suite throughout the office, together voice recognition software for the partners.  At the same time, we provided hands-on training for all the employees, over a period of about a month.  The result has been a revolution in the way the office now operates and the partners only regret is that they did not pay proper attention to their IT years ago.

Backup Problems at a Local Government Office
Through a personal contact, this small Government department asked us to quote for a major system expansion as their previous supplier had left them with no support.  Our quote was accepted, partly because our prices were the lowest received, but more importantly for the level of support we offered.  When we started our contract we discovered that the systems were in a very sorry state.  For example, although the client had been changing back-up tapes every day, no files had actually been saved for nearly two years and that they had been at risk of losing all their critical data.  Regular attention to IT has ensured that the department now runs very smoothly despite a tenfold increase in the number of users (now over 150) and all the new hardware that that expansion has involved.

Email Loss at a London based School
In this case we were called in by a local school to solve a problem with an MS Exchange Server that they could not resolve.  One of their employees had accidentally performed a restore and, as a result, had lost a full week's emails, some of them extremely important.  We were able to respond immediately and with our detailed knowledge of Exchange were able to get them up and running in less than two hours.
